BMW Group India Has Pledged Rs 3 crore in The Ongoing Battle Against COVID-19 Pandemic

India is facing one of the worst crisis since its independence in the form of Coronavirus outbreak.  Apart from the different government departments at work, corporates are also active in combating COVID-19. BMW or Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, translated in English as Bavarian Motor Works is also aiding the government in COVID-19 relief efforts. German automaker participation is developing isolation ward at Government General Hospital, Chengalpattu near BMW Group Plant Chennai.

The company has pledged critical care equipment and services for medical facilities. This will help the government in providing the right healthcare facilities for the citizens affected by the COVID-19. BMW will supply Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) for frontline medical personnel and law enforcement agencies. Getting the right Nutrition for economically marginalised families is crucial with the country in a lockdown till May 1, 2020. BMW is providing the food for the families who aren’t able to buy food due to either no money or unavailability of rations.

BMW India is working closely with government and non-government agencies for the implementation of COVID 19 relief work in Delhi NCR region and Chennai.  Employees of BMW Group India, BMW Group Plant Chennai and BMW India Financial Services voluntarily contributed towards this cause.

The resolve and commitment of our employees and dealer partners across India to fight this unprecedented threat to mankind is strong and undeterred. We will remain resilient and responsive", commented Rudratej Singh, President and Chief Executive Officer, BMW Group India. 

BMW group implemented work from home for the employees in respect of the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak.  The National Sales Company and BMW India Financial Services are working from home since 23 March 2020 until 3 May 2020. Local production at BMW Group Plant Chennai is stopped till 3 May 2020. Essential services such as security, facility management and health centre continue to operate. Across the BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad dealerships in India, staff are working from home to offer services to the customers. Aftersales and breakdown services staff are operating while complying with the local government directives and are limited in their functionality. All showrooms are closed as of now and will reopen as per government advisory.
