BMW has reveals the M850i xDrive Convertible, it is based on the 8-Series Coupe.

The German carmaker, BMW has revealed a convertible car that is based on the 8-Series Coupe. The car is called the M850i xDrive Convertible. The new car sits above the 8-Series Coupe and shares many design similarities. The convertible version gets many unique features and has various optional M packages.

The front fascia of the car is belligerent and the wide kidney grille very well accentuates with the adaptive LED headlights which come with laser light technology. The LED taillights and twin trapezoidal exhaust tips complete the rear of the car. The retractable soft top can be raised or lowered in 15 seconds at speeds up to 48 km/hr. The convertible sits on 20-inch M lightweight alloy wheels. One can opt for an optional M carbon exterior package that includes mirror caps, a rear diffuser insert and air intake bars which a made of carbon fibre.

On the interior, it gets M Sport steering wheel, heated seats which are wrapped with Merino Individual leather, illuminated door sill plates, ambient lighting and 12-speaker Harman Kardon music system. There is also an option for Bowers & Wilkins diamond surround sound system. There are two displays – a 12.3-inch display as a digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch display for the infotainment system. Apart from all, it features a wind deflector that can be positioned behind the front seats or can be folded up and stored.

Mechanical hardware-wise the sportscar comes with adaptive M suspension, active steering system, M Sport braking system with blue callipers and optional active roll stabilization system. The driver assist system and safety features include park distance control, collision and pedestrian warning with braking function as standard. An optional package is also available which has active cruise control with stop & go, lane departure warning, active blind spot detection, cross traffic warning and lane keeping assistant with active side collision protection.

Powering the beast is a 4.4-litre TwinPower Turbo V8 engine that churns out 523 BHP and 748 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The AWD system helps the car to reach 100 km/hr from standstill in just 3.8 seconds. The top speed of the car is electronically limited to 250 km/hr. The car will go on sale in the US market from March 2019 but its launch in the Indian market is not yet confirmed.
