India is the first right-hand-drive market to get the 3-Series Limousine

BMW India has announced the launch date of the 3-Series long-wheelbase (LWB) version as the 21st of January 2021, in the country. Dubbed as BMW 3 Series Limousine, it is already on sale in China. The LWB version of the 3-Series will be the longest in its segment which comprises of Mercedes C-Class, Jaguar XE, and Audi A4 in the Indian market. It will be the German luxury automaker's first product launch in 2021 in the country. What makes the launch even more special is the fact that India is the first right-hand-drive market to get the long-wheelbase version.

The standard BMW 3 Series comes with a wheelbase of 2961mm while the LWB will get an additional space of 110mm. As far as the length is concerned, it is going to be around 120mm longer than the regular 3-Series. Though, the BMW 3 Series Limousine will be similar to the standard model in terms of styling and appearance. The same thing goes for the interior cabin as the layout and features are going to be identical in the form of a panoramic sunroof, interior mood lighting, multi-zone climate control, and an 8.8-inch BMW iDrive touchscreen infotainment system that will offer Apple CarPlay & Android Auto. It is believed that the 3 Series LWB will replace the 3 Series GT while bridging the gap between 3-Series and 5-Series.

Under the bonnet, BMW 3 Series Limousine will have a BS6 compliant 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which will develop 258bhp of top power. There will also be a diesel variant which will be powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine having a maximum power output of 190bhp. Both the engines will be paired to an 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission. BMW 3 Series Limousine price is expected to start at Rs 45 lakhs (ex-showroom) as it will be premium than the regular 3-Series which is sold between Rs 42.30 lakhs - Rs 49.30 lakhs (ex- showroom), India. Bookings for the new sedan could start by the first week of January 2021 across all BMW dealerships in India.
