BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe has been launched today in India at a starting price of Rs 39.30 Lakhs for the 220d SPORT LINE and Rs 41.40 Lakhs for the 220d M SPORT (ex-showroom, India). It is easily the most affordable product in recent times from the German luxury  automaker. Also, the entry-level four-door coupe will be assembled at the manufacturer’s Chennai production unit. BMW globally revealed the 2 Series Gran Coupe at the Los Angeles Auto Show last year and it shares underpinnings with the X1 SUV. It rivals the likes of Audi A3 and the upcoming Mercedes-Benz A-Class in the domestic market. In the international market, the 2 Series Gran Coupe comes with two powertrain options: petrol and diesel. However In India, the manufacturer has offered only a diesel engine for now while the petrol variants are slated to launch at a later stage.

The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé will be sold in 4 colour schemes- Alpine White (non-metallic) and  Black Sapphire, Melbourne Red and Storm Bay (all 3 metallics). Sport Line is available exclusively in Seaside Blue paint scheme while M Sport variant is available in two additional colours - Misano Blue and Snapper Rocks.

Dimension wise,  the 2 Series Coupe measures 4,526 mm in length, 1800 mm in width and 1,420mm in height. Talking about the design, 2 Series Gran Coupe will remind us of the latest BMW cars styling and design tenets. The coupe sports low slung sporty design with pillar-less doors seen in the other BMW Gran coupe cars in recent times. The front profile looks dynamic due to the kidney-shaped grille, sleek and swept-back headlamps with LED DRLs, and wide air intakes with creasing running across the bonnet. Other striking highlights are the four frameless side windows, split tail lights at the rear and a sloping roofline.

Moving on to the interiors, the entry-level coupe comes with plenty of exciting tech features. The dashboard layout is modern and quite similar to the new BMW models arriving in the market. The cabin boasts of features like 10.25-inch TFT screen and touchscreen system, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control system, iDrive interface, wireless charging and parking assistance.

All-new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is powered by a 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo inline 4-cylinder diesel engine. The coupe belts out 290bhp and 400Nm while transmission duties are taken care of by an 8-speed Steptronic automatic unit. The new 2 Series Gran Coupe can go from 0 to  100kmph in just 7.5 seconds while clocking a top speed of 234kmph. The Indian buyer has the option to choose from 4 different driving conditions - ECO PRO, Comfort and Sport.
