BMW Motorrad S1000RR, Kawasaki Ninja 900/GPz900R are some of the bikes Tom Cruise can be seen riding.

Tom Cruise is celebrating his 58th birthday today and he does not look a year old than 20. From a dashing maverick pilot in Top Gun to a secret agent in Mission Impossible movie franchise to a disabled war ver veteran in Born on the Fourth of July, Tom Cruise is a multi-faceted actor. 3-Oscar nominations illustrate his vast potential considering he is more known for his death-defying stunts in movies. Tom Cruise movies have grossed more than $10 billion in box-office across the world making him a bankable Hollywood star. On his birthday today, we are covering a Birthday Special: Tom Cruise & his daredevil stunts on Cars and Bikes.

Mission Impossible Rogue Nation was the fifth instalment of the spy series, it grossing over $682.7 million worldwide. Tom Cruise did some stunning action sequences without using a body double making him one of the few actors who does his stunts himself. Tom Cruise rode a BMW Motorrad S1000RR displaying his superb bike riding skills. BMW Motorrad S1000RR was introduced for the first time in Munich in April 2008 and is powered by 999cc four-cylinder engine. The latest 2020 BMW Motorrad S1000RR model churns out 205 bhp @ a  13,000 rpm with a torque of 113 Nm @ 11,000 rpm.

Tom Cruise tasted commercial success with Top Gun. In one of the most famous scenes from the movie, he rode a Kawasaki Ninja 900/GPz900R alongside the American fighting jet F-14. Kawasaki Ninja 900/GPz900R was the fastest production bike in the world during that time. Cruise loves to do action sequences on bikes and he tends to experiment a lot with motorcycles in movies. In Mission Impossible 2, the actor rode the Triumph Speed Triple which is a motorcycle suitable for street racing. The first Speed Triple was powered by a 498cc vertical twin-cylinder engine with the latest iteration coming with a 1,050cc unit.

Knight and Day starring Cameroon Diaz and Tom Cruise in leading roles, the movie features some exciting bike action sequences. The use of choreographed position switch between Diaz and Cruise on the bike as they raced through the streets of Sevilla was breathtaking. Tom used a Ducati Hypermotard, motorcycle designed to ride through all kinds of terrain. The latest generation Ducati Hypermotard is powered by a 937cc twin-cylinder Ducati Testastretta 11° engine. The 2020 model delivers 114bhp of maximum power output with 96 Nm of peak torque. Kawasaki KZ-1000 also makes an appearance when Tom Cruise rides the bike against bad guys who had taken Diaz hostage. The bike met its end when it fell into the canal.

Edge of Tomorrow, a cult Sci-Fi movies revolves around Tom Cruise's character stuck in a time loop. Here Tom Cruise rides a British-made motorcycle as he raced in the streets of London in the alien-invasion world. So which British motorcycle was it? None other than Triumph Thruxton, named after the famous British racing track Thruxton. The latest model is powered by a 1200cc Liquid-cooled engine churning out 96bhp of power and 112 Nm of peak torque. It’s not just bikes, Tom Cruise does have a taste for refined cars in movies as well. He drove a 1949 Buick Roadmaster in the critically acclaimed Rain Man. He starred in the movie Jack Reacher an adaptation from Lee Child Novels of the same name. Chasing the sniper who killed 5 innocent people, Jack Reacher had lot of good action sequences especially driving the 1970 Chevelle SS in chasing down an Audi A6. All the driving sequences were done by Cruise himself.

We look forward to seeing Tom Cruise in theatres in the coming months.
