The car will offer “a paradigm shift in driving performance” over its predecessor, according to engineering boss Rolf Frech. He added that it will “set a benchmark for all GTs” and that “this [car] redefines luxury driving again.”
It comes fitted with an all-new chassis, suspension, W12 engine and dual-clutch eight-speed gearbox. The third-gen Continental has been inspired by the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept car shown at the Geneva motor show in 2015. Frech said that the car’s overall design direction is “clearly Bentley and Continental.” It is longer now - the front wheels have been moved forward by 135mm.
The rear design looks more refined while the front looks quite muscular. The Continental’s body is built using a lot of aluminium – it uses the Porsche-developed MSB (modular standard drivetrain) platform that underpins the new Panamera as well. Bentley has stated that the car, however, is “82 percent unique”, despite the collaboration with Porsche.
