Benelli is all set to make a comeback after its failed partnership with DSK in India. This time around Benelli has partnered with the Hyderabad-based company, Mahavir Group. Benelli plans to introduce the TRK 502 and TRK 502X under the new partnership. The TRK 502 twins are adventure tourer offerings from Benelli.
The TRK 502 twins are powered by a 499cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox that is good for 47 BHP of peak power and 45 Nm of peak torque. Both the TRK 502 and 502X share the same frame as well, however, the 502 is more street biased while the 502X is off-road biased. The Benelli TRK 502 receives alloy wheels while the 502X receives wire-spoke wheels and other off-road specs.
Additionally, the motorcycles feature beefy 50 mm USD forks at the front and a monoshock setup for the rear suspension. The motorcycles get a 260 mm rear disc brake and twin 320 mm disc brakes for the front. The TRK 502 gets 17-inch alloys for both front wheels and rear wheels while the TRK 502X gets 19-inch wheels up front and 17-inch for the rear. The unladen weight of the TRK 502 is 213 kgs.
When launched the Benelli TRK 502 twins won't be having straight competitors but if priced aggressively it is bound to give a fight to adventure bikes like the Kawasaki Versys 650 and the SWM SuperDual T. Prices for the Benelli TRK 502 twins are expected to be in the range of Rs. 5-6 lakhs (ex-showroom, India).
