Audi launched the Q8 in late 2018. However, the flagship SUV from the German brand was only available with a single engine option until now. Audi has now added two more engine options for the Q8.

The first of the engine additions is a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine that develops 340 PS of peak power and 500 Nm of torque. Audi claims that the car will cover the 0-100 km/hr run in 5.9 seconds while the top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/hr. This engine is called the 55 TFSI.

The second new engine option is a detuned version of the existing 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine and is called the 45 TDI. It develops 231 PS of power and 500 Nm of torque. 0-100 km/hr comes up in 7.1 seconds while top speed is 233 km/hr.

Meanwhile, customers can also get their Q8 with the existing engine called the 50 TDI. It features a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine that can develop 286 PS of peak power and 600 Nm of torque. 0-100 km/hr run takes 6.3 seconds while it tops out at 245 km/hr. All versions of the Audi Q8 come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. They also get the Quattro all-wheel drive system as standard.

All variants of the new Audi Q8 combine a mild hybrid system with the conventional engine that can reduce fuel consumption by up to 143 km/l in real-life conditions. Audi’s hybrid system consists of a 48-volt electrical architecture, a lithium-ion battery and a belt alternator starter that can recover up to 12kW of energy. This also helps the new Audi Q8 to cruise at speeds between 55 km/hr to 160 km/hr with the engine switched off for up to 40 seconds when the accelerator pedal isn’t pressed.

Audi has opened bookings for the new variants of the Q8 in Europe now. Pricing for the new 45 TDI model starts at €73,300 while the 55 TFSI will cost a bit more at €76,300 in Germany.
