Ather is expanding its operations to 16 Indian cities; it will be operational in a total of 27 Indian cities by Q1 2021

Ather Energy is increasing its footprint in the country with expansion to 16 more Indian cities. The EV manufacturer is now spreading operations to cities like Mysore, Hubli, Jaipur, Indore, Panaji, Bhubaneshwar, Nasik, Surat, Chandigarh, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Guwahati, Nagpur, Noida, Lucknow and Siliguri. Hero Electric backed startup recently released a statement outlining its ambitious plans to expand its presence in more cities as part of phase 2 of their expansion plans. It means Ather 450X scooter will become available in a total of 27 Indian cities by first quarter of 2021. In January earlier this year, Ather 450X electric scooter was launched at a starting price of Rs 99,000 (ex-showroom), Bangalore. In Delhi, the 450X e-scooter price stands at Rs 85,000 thanks to Delhi government's EV policy.

This expansion is the result of the strong demand from the consumers, dealerships and also, the test ride requests that we have received since the launch of Ather 450X. We aim to introduce Ather products across the country and fulfil the needs of consumers by providing a premium offering”, commented Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy on the occasion of this announcement.




The company will be expanding their operations to new cities in a phased manner. It will be starting with test rides in order to let consumers experience the Ather 450X first hand. The Indian EV player is also making efforts to install more charging points in addition to the existing 60 points in the 11 cities it is functioning already. 

450X is powered by a 2.5 kWh lithium-ion battery with performance figures of 8 bhp of power output and 26 Nm of peak torque. The electric scooter can accelerate 0 to 40 kmph in 3.3 seconds while clocking a top speed of 80 kmph. As per the manufacturer, the electric two-wheeler has a maximum range of 116 kms on a single charge. Its battery recharges from 0 to 80 percent in 3.25 hours and in an hour if the user uses a fast-charger. Ather 450X comes with 4 riding modes namely Eco, Ride, Sports and Wrap.
