Aprilia SXR 125 bookings started on April 2, 2021 at a token amount of Rs 5000

Piaggio India has launched the Aprilia SXR 125 maxi-scooter at a sticker price of Rs 1.15 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Pune) in the country. The price has been silently updated on the company website. Aprilia SXR 125 bookings started on April 2, 2021 at a token amount of Rs 5000 across the country. It is being locally built at the brand's production facility in Baramati, Pune. The scooter is available in four color schemes namely Matt Black, Glossy White, Matt Blue and Glossy Red in the Indian market.

Aprilia SXR 125 appears to be a smaller SXR 160 which went on sale last year in December in India. The designing cues have been borrowed from the brand's RS660 bike with a large apron upfront. The features and body panels are almost identical to the SXR 160. The scooter comes with a lot of bells and whistles in the form of all-LED lighting, digital LCD cluster with Bluetooth connectivity and USB charging port. In addition, an individual gets under seat storage space, front storage space and tall windscreen. It will directly rival Suzuki Burgman Street 125 which is priced at Rs 84,371 for the standard variant and Rs 87,871 for the Bluetooth-enabled version. All the aforementioned prices are Ex. Showroom, Pune.

Mechanically, Aprilia SXR 125 is powered by a BS6 compliant 125cc single-cylinder air-cooled petrol engine which has been sourced from its sportier twin, the SR125. This engine develops a top power of 9.4bhp at 7600rpm and peak torque of 9.2Nm at 6250rpm. The chassis and suspension system has also been carried over from the SR125, albeit with a bit of tuning. The scooter rides on 12-inch alloy wheels as compared to 14-inch wheels of the SR125. The braking duties are helmed by a disc unit at front and drum at the rear with Combined Braking System (CBS) as standard safety feature. Designed in Italy for India, it will be available for test rides and deliveries at all the company authorized dealerships from next week.
