Volkswagen Launches Ameo Corporate Edition in India

German carmaker Volkswagen had launched the ‘Ameo Corporate edition’ in India. As the name suggests, the new trim of the sub-4 meter compact sedan Ameo has been targeted especially at the corporate and business customers. The prices for Ameo Corporate edition start at Rs. 6.69 Lakh and go all the way to Rs. 7.99 lakhs. Volkswagen Ameo locks horns with Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, and Hyundai Xcent in the sub-4 meter compact sedan segment. With the launch of the new version, the German carmaker is aiming to capture a larger share of the sales in segment.

Volkswagen had launched the Ameo only in India in order to benefit from the reduced taxes that the government levies on cars smaller than the size of 4 meters on sale in the Indian market. Not only is the Ameo the cheapest sedan from Volkswagen in India, it is also the most affordable sedan to offer more than 100 Bhp (109 Bhp to be precise) of power in India and comes with several class leading features, both comfort and safety wise.

The director of Volkswagen’s passenger cars India Steffen Knapp spoke on the occasion of the launch of Ameo Corporate Edition and said,

“The made-for-India and made-in-India Ameo is carline specifically developed for the Indian market. It’s a true testament of German engineering in a compact sedan filled with segment leading features. Through the Ameo Corporate edition, we aim to offer globally renowned standards of safety, quality and fun-to-drive experience to all our customers”

Ameo Corporate edition has features that are present in the Highline Plus trim of the normal Ameo, however the corporate edition gives the customer supplementary value-added benefits related to services as well. Volkswagen offers Ameo with two engine options. The first one is a 1.0 liter 3-cylinder MPI petrol engine rated to deliver 75 Bhp and 95 Nm. The second one is a 1.5 liter TDI diesel engine rated to deliver 109 Bhp and 250 Nm.

As far as the gearbox options on the Ameo are concerned, the corporate edition does not come with the option of an automatic gearbox and is offered only with a 5-speed manual transmission. Volkswagen Ameo sub-4 meter compact sedan is available in 5 colours - Lapiz Blue, Reflex Silver, Candy White, Toffee Brown and Carbon Steel. All the variants of Volkswagen Ameo come equipped with dual front airbags, and ABS as standard safety features. Volkswagen’s Ameo also comes with a host of other features like cruise control, rain sensing wipers along with static cornering lights, the dynamic Touchscreen multimedia music system that offers AppConnect support, and Auto air-conditioning system.
