The all-electric Kia EV9 Concept has made its world premiere. Based on the brand's advanced Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the three-row SUV takes inspiration from the ‘Bold for Nature’ design pillar of Opposites United design language. The production-spec Kia EV9 will debut in 2023 in multiple European markets across the globe. Kia had launched the all-electric EV6 crossover last year in several global markets and it is expected to go on sale in India in the coming few years.

Dimensionally, Kia EV9 measures 4930 mm in length, 2055 mm in width and 1790 mm in height while having a wheelbase of 3100 mm. The all-electric SUV flaunts a full body coloured front with the new Digital Tiger Face. The front grille houses an intricate star cloud pattern display that is completely hidden behind the body panel. There are vertical daytime running lamps (DRLs) at the front as well as rear alongside a new air vent design. The hood vent duct area is also utilised as a solar panel which in turn helps to regain some of the electric energy that the Concept EV9 uses. It greatly benefits the owners as an alternative source of energy when they are not close to a charging station.

In addition, the Kia EV9 Concept boasts of retractable roof rails that close inward into the roof when not in use. When needed, the roof rails can be raised by a simple touch of a button. The traditional wing mirrors are replaced by a next-gen camera monitoring system. Coming to the rear end, there is a triangular d-pillar which creates a unique Daylight Opening (DLO) signature. Riding on machined 22-inch wheels, it is also presented with a panoramic sky roof. The cabin too is hugely inspired by the ‘Bold for Nature’ design pillar of Opposites United. It features a 27-inch ultra-wide display which serves all the driver and passenger requirements, including media, climate control and comfort functionality features.

The flooring of the all-electric Concept SUV has been created from recycled fishnets while the seating fabric is made from recycled plastic bottles and recycled wool fibres. Furthermore, vegan leather - replacing the conventional animal leather - has been used throughout the interior space. The EV9 Concept gets three forward-thinking interior modes namely Active, Pause and Enjoy. Active Mode is when the Concept EV9 is on the move while the two modes relate to when it is not moving. In Pause mode, the seats switch around to enable occupants seated in the first-row and third-row to face each other. The second-row seats fold down and become a table. In Enjoy mode, the interior is opened into a downtime breakout space by turning around the three-row seat configuration while opening the tailgate.
