The new Tucson 4WD is only available with the top-spec GLS trim; priced at ₹25.19 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Hyundai has gone ahead and launched a 4WD version of its Tucson at ₹25.19 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The 4WD variant can only be had with an automatic transmission with a diesel engine. Furthermore, it is only available in top-spec trim and has replaced the outgoing 2WD GLS model. The 4WD AT GLS is priced ₹48,000 more than the currently discontinued 2WD AT GLS. This isn’t much considering the addition of the four-wheel-drive system.

The New Tucson features an on-demand 4WD system that automatically redistributing power to the rear wheels when it observes a loss of traction at the front. The Korean manufacturer claims that this increases fuel efficiency and reduces wear. For 4WD enthusiasts, the system comes with a lock mode that provides power to all four wheels at all times. The system also features ATCC (Advanced Traction Cornering Control) that sends power to the wheel with the highest traction. Aside from the addition of 4WD, the SUV remains unchanged.

Hyundai has also updated the mid-spec GL variants of the Tucson, adding more safety tech including Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Hill Assist Control (HAC), Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Down Hill Brake Control (DBC).

Hyundai’s Tucson takes on the Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV500 and Honda CR-V.
