Volvo’s XC60 looks like a smaller XC90 and this is not negative in anyway. Being the smaller version it gets a lot of features from its big brother. Interestingly, it is available in only one trim level which comes with only one engine and gearbox option. This list will tell you all need to know about the new Volvo.
1. It shares a lot with larger sibling, the XC90:
The XC60 has a lot of similar tech and features from the more-expensive XC90. Firstly, both SUVs are built on the same Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform. Powering both SUVs is the same 2.0-litre motor diesel engine that produces 235hp. Moreover, both also get the same eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive system. The XC60 even shares similar design bits – like the LED DRLs.
2. Only one engine and gearbox option:
The previously mentioned 2.0-litre diesel motor is the only engine available with the XC60. A big feature of this engine is how it uses compressed air to reduce turbo lag at lower rpms. Even though this engine is efficient and powerful, it won’t be the only one on offer for long. Volvo is expected to soon bring in a petrol motor or even a hybrid one.
3. Tech Pack incoming:
The XC60 is heavily loaded with technology and features. It has a 15-speaker high-end audio system paired to a 9-inch touchscreen. There is also another screen on the dashboard and this one takes care of the instrumentation. The XC60 has heated seats all around and a large sunroof. The launch variant comes equipped with the Tech Pack, this adds air suspension, leather seats with massage. Other features include a heads-up display and cross-traffic alert system.
4. Safety is key:
All Volvos are big on safety and the XC60 is no different. Aside from the regular electronic safety gizmos and airbags, the SUV is also equipped with radar-based driver assistance systems such as the BLIS Cross-Traffic alert system with steering assist and city safety, oncoming traffic mitigation, adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, pilot assist, lane assist, pedestrian, cyclist and large animal detection etc.
5. Priced competitively:
The XC60’s single trim is priced at ₹55.9 lakh (ex-showroom, India), putting it in competition with the high-spec variants of the BMW X3 (₹54 lakh), Mercedes GLC (₹51.73 lakh) and Land Rover Discovery Sport (₹55.47 lakh) (all prices, ex-showroom).
