Coronavirus outbreak has wreaked havoc in the whole world. The spread of coronavirus has triggered a 21-day lockdown across the country. It has been impacting the automobile industry adversely. It has forced several manufacturers to put the launch of new two-wheelers on hold.
Here is a list of 5 motorcycle launches that were delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic:
Hero Xtreme 160R
Hero MotoCorp unveiled Xtreme 160R last month with an aim to re-enter the hot 160cc - 200 cc bike segment in India. It was scheduled to be launched in March 2020. However, the launch has been delayed. The upcoming motorcycle has already been listed on the official website. The Xtreme 160R is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 90,000 - Rs 95,000 (ex-showroom). It will be powered by a BS6 compliant 160 cc, single-cylinder petrol engine with fuel-injection and SOHC setup. This air-cooled powerplant churns out 15 bhp power and 14 Nm torque, while paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. In terms of exterior updates, it features a full LED headlight with a short visor above it, a high-rise tail section along with smoked-out LED taillights and a 7-step adjustable mono-shock suspension. Other highlighted features include a digital instrument cluster, LED side turn indicators, side stand, engine cut-off, hazard lights, integrated pillion grab rails, engine kill and a start switch.
2020 Triumph Street Triple RS
2020 Triumph Street Triple RS was all set to launch digitally on March 25th across the country. But the launch was postponed due to Coronavirus. The new model is expected to be priced Rs 40,000 more than the outgoing version. The New Triumph Street Triple RS gets an updated engine that meets the latest Euro 5 and BS6 emission regulations. It will be powered by a 765cc in-line three-cylinder petrol engine that will produce 121 bhp power and 79 Nm peak torque. Visually, the 2020 Street Triple RS retains the same dimensions, silhouette, and chassis as the outgoing model. Other subtle changes include a new LED headlight with LED DRLs giving it a hint of aggressiveness and fresh appeal. The TFT instrument console comes with a new design. Its body panels, flyscreen, side panels, seat cowl, and belly pan have all been updated.
Benelli Imperiale 400 BS6
The first BS6 offering from Benelli India was scheduled to go on sale in the country next month. The launch was postponed due to the 21-day lockdown. Benelli Imperiale 400 is expected to be priced at Rs 1.8 lakhs (ex-showroom). It is powered by a 374cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected petrol engine that churns out 20.7 bhp power ouput with 29 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. With both rear and front disk brakes, Benelli Imperiale 400 also has an anti-locking braking system. In terms of design, the modern-retro motorcycle gets a round headlamp with a chrome casing flanked by round, chrome finished turn indicators. It also gets more chrome on the tail lamp, mirrors, levers and spoke wheels. It is built around a steel-double cradle frame that holds a peanut-shaped fuel tank and a split-seat setup.
2020 Triumph Tiger 900
Another Triumph motorcycle launch affected due to coronavirus outbreak is Tiger 900. The all-new adventure tourer was all set to go on sale in April 2020. It is expected to be priced at Rs 12.05 lakhs (ex-showroom). The Tiger 900 replaces the Tiger 800. It looks much more contemporary, compact and leaner than before. Not many details have been revealed about this motorcycle. It features a slim LED headlamp. The fuel tank and the body panels have been redesign to make them look more angular now. The other big changes include a new bolt-on sub-frame, bolt-on rear footpeg hangers, and a bifurcated radiator which optimizes heat management plus offers more space for the new engine. Tiger 900 offers Marzocchi suspension on the GT range and Showa on the Rally range.
Jawa Perak
Although Jawa Perak was officially launched in November 2019 and the deliveries were all set to begin from 2nd April 2020. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, Classic legends have indefinitely delayed deliveries of Jawa Perak to the Indian customers. Jawa Perak is priced at Rs 1.94 lakhs (ex-showroom). It is powered by a BS6-compliant, 334cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that generates 30 bhp power and 31 Nm torque. It is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox. It gets a double cradle tubular frame, with telescopic hydraulic front forks and a mono-shock towards the rear. It rides on an18-inch tyre upfront front while there is a 17-inch rubber at the rear. Other highlighted features include bobbed fenders, chopped twin exhausts, halogen headlight, and handlebar end mirrors.
