The neo-retro sports bike is styled after the motorcycles that motorcycling icons like Lawson and Rainey rode.

Yamaha has finally outed the long-overdue XSR900 GP, having a similar 890cc inline-triple mill tied down in XSR900. This motorbike brings a splendid nostalgic feeling like that of Yamaha’s Grand Prix racing legacy. The bike's design is evocative of the Yamaha GP 500s raced by racing greats like Wayne Rainey and Eddie Lawson in the 1980s.

However, one should not be tricked by the nostalgic exterior design, because this motorcycle remains a twirly contemporary piece of machinery, offering impressive performance and cutting-edge technology. In terms of performance, the XSR900 is equipped with an 890cc, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, dual overhead cam (DOHC), 4-valve, 3-cylinder engine that delivers 119 PS at 10,000 rpm and 93 Nm at 7,000 rpm.

When it comes to technology, this bike incorporates modern features such as a 5-inch TFT instrument panel and a 6-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) derived from the R1 model. This IMU controls an extensive array of rider assistance systems, including traction control that adjusts based on lean angle, anti-lock braking, slide control, and a system to prevent front wheel lift. The XSR900 offers three riding modes (Sport, Street, and Rain), and riders have the flexibility to customize settings to their preferences using the 'Custom' mode.

Additional features comprise clip-on handlebars, a 41 mm upside-down fork at the front, and a rear monoshock, coupled with new aluminum wheels designed to enhance the bike's responsiveness in corners, as stated by the manufacturer.

The motorcycle is available in two color options: Legend Red and Power Grey. Regrettably, as appealing as the XSR900 GP may appear, it will not be accessible in the Indian market.
