Jaguar Land Rover India has launched the 2022 Range Rover at a starting price of Rs 2.31 Crores (Ex. Showroom, India) in the country. Being available in Standard and Long Wheelbase bodystyles with four, five or seven-seat layout, it is based on Land Rover’s new flexible Modular Longitudinal Architecture. The 2022 Range Rover bookings have started in the Indian market while it is offered in four grades namely SE, HSE, Autobiography and First Edition. Just so you know, the First Edition will be on sale throughout the first year of production.


Range Rover First Edition is based on the Autobiography trim and comes with a unique specification. It is exclusively available in a Sunset Gold Satin finish, among a choice of five exterior colors. The Standard wheelbase (SWB) & Long Wheelbase (LWB) versions can be availed with a 5-seat configuration. In addition, the LWB model gets a 7-seater cabin as well. The fifth-gen SUV boasts of Digital LED headlights with Signature daytime running lights, falling roofline, strong waistline and rising sill line. It gets a short front overhang and a distinctive new boat tail rear – complete with practical split tailgate. The British brand has introduced alternatives to traditional leather which include a new premium textile that combines Ultrafabrics and Kvadrat wool-blend.

The SUV features advanced speaker technology and next-generation noise-canceling with headrest speakers. It uses the 1600W Meridian Signature Sound System with additional 20W speakers in the four main headrests. The third-generation Active Noise Cancellation system monitors wheel vibrations, tyre noise and engine sounds transmitted into the cabin and generates a canceling signal, which is played through the system’s 35 speakers. These include a pair of 60 mm diameter speakers in the headrests for each of the four main cabin occupants, which create personal quiet zones similar to the effect when using high-end headphones. Other features include Cabin Air Purification Pro, PM2.5 Cabin Air Filtration, Dynamic Response Pro, 3D Surround Camera system, Tailgate Event Suite and Software-Over-The-Air (SOTA) updates.


The centre console houses the curved 13.1-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen infotainment system which works in tandem with the new semi-floating 13.7-inch Interactive Driver Display. Customers can choose from a variety of configurations, including a conventional analogue layout, using the steering wheel controls. The rear seat occupants can use a new Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE) system, which provides adjustable 11.4-inch HD touchscreens mounted on the rear of the front seatbacks. They can be operated independently and support the connection of most devices with an HDMI port. There is also an 8-inch Rear Seat Touchscreen Controller mounted in the centre armrest of Executive Class Rear Seats.

Mechanically, the 2022 Range Rover comes with three engine options: a 3.0L petrol mill with mild-hybrid (MHEV) tech, a 3.0L diesel motor and a 4.4L Twin Turbo V8 petrol unit. The 3.0L 6-cylinder petrol engine is equipped with the latest 48 V MHEV technology which develops top power of 394 bhp and peak torque of 550 Nm. The 3.0L 6-cylinder diesel engine makes 346 bhp and 700 Nm. The flagship 4.4L 8-cylinder petrol engine belts out maximum power output of 510 bhp and highest torque performance of 750 Nm. Some other notable inclusions in the SUV are Integrated Chassis Control, All-Wheel Steering, Terrain Response 2 system, six driving modes and fully independent air suspension system.
