The all-electric SUV will be based on the brand's global popular platform

MG Motor India has shared a few details of the 2022 ZS EV ahead of its official launch in the country. The new iteration of the all-electric SUV will be based on the brand's global popular platform while it comes with the longest driving range on a single charge as compared to any EV in India. The 2022 MG ZS EV facelift will come with a plethora of cosmetic updates and new features. It will directly rival Hyundai Kona in the Indian market while being a little bit expensive in price over the present model.


Going by the images released by MG, the 2022 ZS EV flaunts a front-covered grille and the charging socket has been repositioned to the left of MG logo. The company has introduced new LED headlamps with daytime running lights (DRLs) and bumper. Riding on newly-designed 17-inch alloy wheels, it will also get an updated tail-light design. MG provides its customers a 5-way charging ecosystem with the ZS EV in the form of free-of-cost AC fast-charger at residences /offices, portable in-car charging cable, DC superfast charging stations at dealerships, 24x7 charge-on-the-go facility (in 5 cities), and charging stations in satellite cities and tourist hubs.

MG Motor India has sold more than 4000 units of the all-electric ZS SUV in the Indian market till date. It commands a market share of 27 percent in the segment. The company has a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat with an annual production capacity of 80,000 vehicles while providing employment to 2,500 people. Presently, it has four products in its Indian portfolio namely Hector, ZS, Gloster and Astor. The company has already announced that it will launch a highly affordable electric car in India which will be priced between Rs 10-15 Lakhs to directly rival Tata Nexon EV. Needless to say, the Nexon EV is the highest selling electric vehicle in the country with a waiting period going over 6 months.
