The new-gen 2022 Mahindra Scorpio is expected to launch during February-March next year in India

Mahindra & Mahindra has been testing the new-gen Scorpio for more than a year now in the Indian market. Recently, it was spotted once again in camouflage but clear images of the interior have emerged. The new-gen 2022 Mahindra Scorpio is expected to launch during February-March next year in India. Though, the new SUV was expected to go on sale this year itself but due to the COVID-19 pandemic the launch had to be postponed to 2022. For the unversed, Mahindra is currently busy with the Mahindra XUV700 which will start reaching dealerships by mid of October this year.


Going by the spy images, it appear like the range-topping automatic variant of the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio. It features a completely restyled dashboard with a newly developed touchscreen infotainment system. The AC vents have been vertically placed while they get piano black surrounding. The company has not opted for any soft touch material instead it has focused on hard plastic. The video further reveals the 7-seater configuration of the SUV with the last row having forward-facing bench seats in place of the side facing jump seats. It has been learnt that Mahindra might introduce a 5-seater variant of the new Scorpio on the lines of XUV700. The top-end variant will boast of an electric sunroof. However, it will not be a panoramic one.


The dashboard will also house a centrally mounted speaker as standard. There will also be four roof mounted speakers as seen in the video. The instrument cluster will be an analogue unit with a multi-information display (MID). Other notable features will include C-type USB ports, a 12V socket, dual-zone climate control, rear AC vents, connected car technology, 360-degree parking camera and a Micro-Hybrid function with engine start/stop functionality. Mechanically, the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will be offered with the same engines as the upcoming XUV700, i.e. a 2.2L mHawk diesel unit and a 2.0L turbo mStallion petrol unit. The gearbox options are likely to be a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic unit.
