  • It has been introduced with two petrol engines
  • The 11th gen model will rival Hyundai Elantra & Chevrolet Cruze

Honda has taken the curtains off the 11th generation Civic sedan as it goes on sale in the coming months. The Japanese brand had recently discontinued the Civic in the Indian market. Previewed in November 2020 in prototype form, the new sedan will rival the likes of Toyota Corolla Altis, Hyundai Elantra and Chevrolet Cruze. The tenth-generation model of the sedan was unveiled in 2015 and after six years it will be replaced by the new model revealed today. The 2022 Honda Civic will be firstly introduced in the American market, followed by the other European and Asian countries.

Following Honda's “Man-Maximum, Machine-Minimum” design philosophy, the 2022 Honda Civic boasts of a “thin and light” body design with a low hood and front fenders. The front fascia gets wide-set LED headlights with LED DRLs and LED fog lamps. The rear profile flaunts a wide-set of LED taillights. It will be available in eight exterior colors, three of which are new namely Meteorite Gray Metallic, Sonic Gray Pearl and all-new Civic-exclusive Morning Mist Blue Metallic. The cabin has been equipped with a 7-inch all-digital LCD instrument cluster. Other features include wireless charging, Bose premium sound system with 12 speakers and 9-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto.

Underpinning the next-gen Honda Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) architecture, the 2022 Honda Civic is offered with naturally aspirated 2.0L 4-cylinder and 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged engines. Both the engines will be linked to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) as standard while a new idle-stop system is also added in the feature list. The sedan gets user-selectable Sport mode by using a toggle switch on the centre console. One can switch to Eco mode which reduces throttle and transmission sensitivity, as well as air conditioning output to help preserve fuel efficiency. As for safety, it comes loaded with rear seat side airbags and Honda Sensing system with new front wide-view camera, plus new Traffic Jam Assist and Low Speed Braking Control.
