Unofficial Bookings have opened at a token amount of Rs 51,000 for the upcoming 2021 Tata Safari SUV

Launch of the much-beloved 2021 Tata Safari SUV will be taking place on the 26th of January. The iconic model is making a comeback as a 7-seater SUV in the Indian market after getting discontinued in 2019. As we move closer to the launch date, unofficial bookings for the vehicle have opened at a token amount of Rs 51,000 at some dealerships. The New Safari is a derivative of the Tata Harrier model currently on sale in the country. The SUV was recently spotted in a blue colour scheme at Tata’s manufacturing facility. The blue colour option would be offered alongside the grey, white and red seen on the Harrier. Tata Safari's expected price should begin from Rs 15 lakhs (ex-showroom). When introduced, it will compete against the likes of upcoming New-Gen Mahindra XUV500, Jeep Compass Facelift and MG Hector Plus.

It was very recent that Tata Motors also released a sketch of 2021 Safari on social media giving us an indication of the SUV's design. As we already know, it will be based on the OMEGA (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced) architecture. The All-New Safari follows the new IMPACT 2.0 design philosophy. From the released sketches, one can observe that the front profile is quite similar to the Harrier SUV. Also, there is a new grille with a tri-arrow set-up which bears resemblance with other Tata car models namely the Tiago and the Tigor. Further, the new Safari will arrive with a taller stance, a new set of alloy wheels and running boards. At the rear end, the SUV will have more space to accommodate the third row of seats. Else, the rest of the design elements will remain identical to Harrier.

Talking about the interior, the new Safari would offer a dashboard layout similar to that of the Harrier SUV. It will come loaded with features like an 8.8-inch infotainment system, sunroof, keyless entry, cruise control among many others. Giving the Indian buyer more choices are the options of a 6-seater and 7-seater configurations. In the former layout, it will come equipped with captain seats while the latter seat configuration will feature bench-type seats.

2021 Tata Safari will house a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine under the bonnet. The SUV will belt out 168 bhp of maximum power output and 350Nm of peak torque. Transmission options on offer would include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. AWD option will not be offered for the moment but do expect the Indian automaker to bring it in the near future depending on the market demand.
