Bookings for Safari will open on February 4, it will also arrive at Tata showrooms on the same day.

After much wait, 2021 Tata Safari has been unveiled in India. Bookings for the New Safari will open on the 4th of February, this will also be the same day that the vehicles arrives into the showrooms. The company has confirmed that the flagship SUV will be launched in February itself. The iconic SUV makes a comeback in the domestic market after a gap of 2 years. It will be offered in a total of six variants namely XE, XM, XT, XZ, XT+, XZ+. The SUV will cater to two seating configurations, a 6 and a 7 seater. The 7-seater SUV variant will come equipped with captain seats in the middle row. Tata Safari is based on the OMERGARC (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Architecture) which in turn is derived from Land Rover’s D8 platform. Plus, it follows Tata Motors 2.0 Design Philosophy and becomes the brand’s flagship model in the country. 2021 Safari will rival the likes of upcoming Mahindra XUV500, 7-seater MG Hector Plus and the New Jeep Compass Facelift in its segment. Bookings are open from today at the online as well as offline channels.

The upcoming SUV is quite similar to Tata Harrier currently retailing in the domestic market. There are new design elements like the steeped up roof, a new set of alloy wheels and an upright tail to distinguish the Safari from the Harrier. Talking in detail about the design, the front profile flaunts a chrome finished large grille and LED headlamps featuring projectors lens. The SUV rides on a new set of dual-tone alloy wheels with flared wheel arches. Other striking highlights include an all-black tailgate, a Safari badge at the rear and wraparound LED taillights. Dimension wise, the new Safari is 70 mm longer in comparison to the Harrier in order to accommodate extra seats while the wheelbase and width remain the same.

Moving to the interior, the cabin boasts of features like an 8.8-inch floating Island infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, panoramic sunroof, a premium 9 JBL speaker sound unit, steering mounted controls, 7-inch TFT display instrument cluster among many others. Plus, there is a dedicated AC vent for the rear row. It also comes equipped with Tata Motor’s latest Connected IRA Car Technology which is further divided into 5 categories namely Safety and Security, Remote Commands, Alerts and Notifications, Over-The-Air Updates and Health Check. The buyer can look forward to features like find my car, remote lock and unlock, speed alerts, SOS SMS among others.

Safety equipment on-board include 6 airbags, ABS with EA, ESP, hill hold control & descent, rear cameras, traction control and so on. 2021 Tata Safari borrows its powertrain from the Harrier. Thus it is powered by a 2.0-litre Kryotec Diesel engine that delivers a maximum power output of 170 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options here comprise of a 6-speed manual as well as a 6-speed automatic gearboxes. There are 3 driving modes namely Eco, Drive and Sports.
