Skoda re-introduces the Rider variant of its entry-level sedan Rapid in the country

Skoda Auto India has re-introduced the entry-level Rapid Rider at a price point of Rs 7.79 lakh (ex-showroom) in the country. Skoda had halted bookings for the Rider variant last year owing to the high demand. The company had altogether removed the Rider trim from its official website. 

Talking about the Rapid Rider, it is now Rs 30,000 pricier than what it was initially launched at. No such changes have been made to the design or the equipment list. In terms of features, the mid-size sedan will continue to get auto climate control, rear AC vents, all four power windows, remote central locking, rear defogger, adjustable headrests in the front and rear, power-adjustable wing mirrors, rake and reach adjust for the steering wheel, center armrests for the front and back, and full-wheel covers. Furthermore, it will also get a 2-DIN audio system with USB, aux & Bluetooth Connectivity. Its safety kit comprises dual front airbags, ABS, and rear parking sensors.

Under the bonnet, Skoda Rapid Rider is powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged, 3-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 108 bhp power and 175 Nm torque. The engine is linked to a 6-speed manual transmission. 

Skoda has also revised the price of other variants as well. The Rapid Rider Plus is now Rs 20,000 dearer. Thus, the manual variant is currently offered at Rs 8.19 lakh and the automatic variant retails at Rs 9.69 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom). The Rapid Ambition Automatic and Rapid Onyx Automatic also witnesses a price hike of Rs 20,000. They are now available for Rs 11.49 lakhs and Rs 11.69 lakhs (all price, ex-showroom).
