The new Kodiaq will come with cosmetic updates at the front fascia as well as the rear end

Skoda Auto has released the first official design sketches of the 2021 Kodiaq facelift ahead of its world premiere on April 13. Being originally launched nearly five years back in 2016, Skoda Kodiaq is also available in a 7-seater version. Being a mid-cycle facelift, the new Kodiaq will come with cosmetic updates at the front fascia as well as the rear end. It has been learnt that Skoda will also launch the new iteration of Kodiaq in the Indian market by the end of this year to challenge Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.

Speaking of the styling changes, the 2021 Skoda Kodiaq facelift would flaunt the signature Skoda front grille which is hexagonal in shape and features double slats. Other styling updates at the front will include a redesigned bonnet with slimmer full LED headlights and fog lights. The headlamps and fog lamp units are arranged in such a manner that they create a new four-eyed face. The front apron too has been tweaked to offer a wider central air intake framed by Lshaped trim elements on either side and an aluminium-look insert. The rear profile will boast of slim LED tail-lamps with the company's signature crystalline structures. The tail-lamps form a flatter version of the classic ŠKODA C-shape design.

The SUV is also expected to get an array of premium features such as restyled digital instrument cluster, updated touchscreen infotainment system, large panoramic sunroof and wireless charging facility. Mechanically, it is expected to retain the same set of petrol and diesel engines which include a 1.5L TSI petrol, 2.0L TSI petrol and a 2.0L TDI diesel. The gearbox choices will be a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG automatic unit. The company will also introduce a 4x4 drive system with the higher variants of the SUV. Skoda Kodiaq is sold in over 60 countries around the world, including India. We can expect the launch of 2021 Skoda Kodiaq in India during the festive season period of Diwali around October-November this year.
