Skoda India will finally launch the new-gen Octavia on June 10, 2021 in the country. The company authorized dealers have started taking pre-orders for the new sedan while it is expected to come in a price range of Rs 27.50 - Rs 32 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom). The 2021 new-gen Skoda Octavia was originally slated to launch in April 2021 but it was delayed due to the lockdown in various states because of the second wave of COVID-19 in India. Skoda Octavia will directly rival Hyundai Elantra in the Indian market as its other two foes namely Honda Civic and Chevrolet Cruze have been discontinued.
Underpinning the MQB EVO architecture, the 2021 Skoda Octavia will be around 19mm longer and 15mm wider than the model on sale presently. It will flaunt a new front grille with chrome surroundings which is broader than before. Other notable styling elements will include single-piece LED headlamps, Rotare Aero 17-inch alloy wheels, LED tail-lamp cluster and sloping roofline. The cabin will be equipped with several bells and whistles which includes Automatic climate control, Cruise control, Wireless charging, 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto. The safety features on-board will be 8 airbags, ABS with EBD and ESC to name a few.
Mechanically, the new-gen 2021 Skoda Octavia is expected to come with two petrol engines. There will be a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged mill for the base and mid trims which will generate maximum power of 147bhp and peak torque of 250 Nm. The engine will be offered with a 6-speed manual transmission. The higher variants will be available with a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged motor which will develop top power output of 187bhp and highest torque performance of 320 Nm. The engine will be exclusively paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. If the dealer quoted price of the 2021 new-gen Skoda Octavia is to be believed, then it can be said that the new sedan is notably more expensive than its predecessor.
