News Highlights

  • 2021 Mahindra XUV500 to get a completely new interior
  • The upcoming new-gen XUV500 to be pitted against MG Hector Plus and Tata Gravitas

Mahindra & Mahindra is likely to launch the new-gen XUV500 by early 2021 in India. The SUV has been spotted doing test runs quite a few times in the past. Recently, it was once again caught on the camera in the production-ready format with heavy camouflage. Our friends at Rushlane have now rendered the prototype of the 2021 XUV500, thus giving us a fair idea of what the SUV will look like.

The prototype of the upcoming XUV500 looks a bit longer than the existing model. Upfront, it will get boomerang-shaped LED DRLs that look good with the seven-slat grille and wide secondary air dam. We can expect the higher variants to get full-LED headlamps. As per the previous spy shots, we were not able to see what the rear end of the SUV would look like as it was in heavy camouflage. But the test mules sported pre-production panels and lights. The SUV might also get a new C-pillar and a rear windshield design. We have to wait for the final version as of now.

Talking about the interiors, the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will be completely different from its predecessor. The SUV will get a new dashboard layout. Furthermore, it will also get comfortable front driver and co-passenger seats. Other feature highlights will include a wide touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, instrument console with larger MID, low-mounter center AC vents, flat-bottom steering wheel etc. among others. The cabin is going to be more spacious in comparison to the predecessor.

Under the bonnet, the upcoming mid-premium 7-seater SUV is likely to debut a new 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine. The SUV is also likely to get the 2.0-litre petrol engine that powers the all-new Mahindra Thar. Both the engines are likely to deliver 180 bhp power. The engines will be paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox along with an automatic gearbox as an option. The fully-loaded variant might also offer AWD. Once launched, the SUV will rival against the likes of MG hector Plus, Tata Gravitas, and upcoming Hyundai Creta 7-seater.
