Mini India has launched the 2021 Cooper range at a starting price of Rs 38 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) in the country. The Mini range comprises of the 3-door Hatch, Convertible and the John Cooper Works (JCW) version. The entire range will be available with petrol engines as Completely Built-up Units (CBUs) while test drives and bookings are open at all the company authorised dealerships and the Mini Online Shop (shop.mini.in). The British brand is offering Service Inclusive, Repair Inclusive and MINI Secure packages with the trio.


The all-new Mini 3-door and Convertible flaunt hexagonal radiator grille and round hallmark Mini LED headlights as standard. The fog lamp units receive LED headlights while the LED side indicators are integrated into the redesigned side scuttles. The rear light graphics, taking inspiration from the British flag, get a Union Jack design. The rear fog lamps have been fitted into the rear apron while the new air intakes come vertically integrated in the body. The all-new Mini 3-door and the all-new Mini Convertible are offered in ten colour schemes namely Island Blue, Rooftop Grey, British Racing Green, Chilli Red, Midnight Black, Moonwalk Grey, Pepper White, White Silver, Enigmatic Black (optional) and Zesty Yellow (Only for the Convertible).

Design-wise, the 2021 Mini John Cooper Works Hatch is identical to the 3-door model, except for the red elements at multiple places like front grille, bonnet, mirror caps and roof. It rides on exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels while the regular models will ride on 17-inch alloys. The cabin comes in new MINI Interior Surfaces Silver Chequered and MINI Interior Surfaces Aluminium. The upholstery options for the 3-door and convertible models include Cloth-Leatherette combination in Black Pearl Light Chequered and Black Pearl Carbon Black. The Leatherette Carbon Black is also available as a standard option. The JCW trim comes in Leather Chester in Satellite Grey and Malt Brown as well as JCW Sports Seats in Dinamica.


Some of the notable features include Multifunction steering wheel, Harman Kardon Hi-Fi Speaker System, Ambient lighting, Cruise Control, Park Assistant, Rear View Camera, Head-Up Display, 5-inch multifunctional instrument display on the steering column, Wireless charging and an 8.8-inch colour touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Navigation System. As for safety, the troika comes equipped with front passenger airbags, Brake Assist, 3-Point Seat Belts, Dynamic Stability Control, Crash Sensor, Anti-lock Braking System, Cornering Brake Control, Run-flat tyres and Rear-View Camera as standard. The Convertible trim features a Rollover Protection System for additional safety.



Mechanically, the 2021 Mini 3-door and convertible are powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder twin-turbo petrol engine which returns maximum power of 189 bhp and peak torque of 280 Nm. The coupe does the 0-100kmph sprint in merely 6.7 seconds while the convertible takes 7.1 seconds for the same. The engine is linked to a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox as standard. The 2021 Mini Cooper JCW is powered by the same 2.0L 4-cylinder twin-turbo engine, albeit with a bit of re-tuning to fetch additional power. It delivers 228 bhp and 320 Nm while touching the 100kmph mark from standstill in merely 6.1 seconds. The engine is paired with an 8-Speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
