The much-awaited 2021 MG Hector facelift has been launched in the Indian market at a price of Rs 12.89 Lakhs (ex-showroom). The facelift arrives in the country within 18 months of the SUV's first introduction in the country. As per the manufacturer, over 40,000 units of the Hector have been sold in the Indian market. The 2021 MG Hector facelift comes with plenty of cosmetic updates at the outside while the interior is packed with new features. The SUV continues to be powered by the same set of petrol and diesel engines that were present in the outgoing model. It will compete against Jeep Compass, Tata Harrier and Nissan Kicks in the domestic market.
Talking about the design updates, the new MG Hector flaunts an all-new Thermo Pressed chrome grille and new Gun Metal skid plates at the rear & front. The rear side of the SUV sees a major update in the form of black appliqué replacing the reflector strip running between the tail-lamp. One can also look forward to the black inserts on the boot door while the SUV boasts of completely new front and rear scuff plates. Further, it rides on a set of large 18-inch alloy wheels as compared to the outgoing model's 17-inch wheels.
Talking about the interior, the major change is the champagne and black dual-tone upholstery. The dual-tone colour scheme replaces the all-black theme in the cabin. The 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 360-degree camera and panoramic sunroof rolls over from the outgoing model. The biggest updates are in the form of External wifi connection ability, Accuweather updates and 31 "Hinglish" Voice Commands. Also, the Indian buyers can look forward to Ventilated Seats and Wireless charging features in the new SUV.
The 2021 MG Hector facelift houses 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol with hybrid tech and 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel engines under the bonnet. The former belts out 143 bhp of maximum power output while the latter churns out top power of 170bhp. A 6-speed manual gearbox comes as standard with all the engines. On the other hand, the non-hybrid turbo petrol powertrain comes with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic unit also.
