Today, the 2021 Jeep Compass facelift made its way to the Indian market after global debut in November, last year. It will rival the likes of Skoda Karoq and Hyundai Tucson facelift in India. Jeep Compass is made in India at FCA's Ranjangaon facility which is also the global production hub for the right-hand-drive version of the SUV. We can expect production for the global markets to commence in the coming weeks from now. FCA India introduced Jeep Compass in 2017 and has been a big hit for them with over 50,000 units of the SUV sold in the last 4 years. Also, 10,000 plus units have been exported from their production hub. The exciting bit about the new Jeep Compass is the 50 safety and security features. India is only the second market to get the Compass facelift after China, thus indicating the focus of the American automaker on the fast-growing automotive market in the country. The made-in-India Jeep Compass facelift will be launched in New Zealand, Japan and Australia later this year. Expect the SUV's price to start from Rs 16 lakhs (ex-showroom).
Talking about the design, it is far sharper and aggressive than the outgoing model. The major changes are the chrome-finished seven-slat honeycomb mesh grille surrounded by revamped headlamps with new reflectors and LED DRLs. Indian buyers can also look forward to revamped bumper, modified faux skid plate, a new set of fog lamps and new rear tail lights among others. The new Jeep Compass will ride on a new set of 5-spoke alloy wheels.
Talking about the interior, The cabin has been heavily revamped with a plethora of premium features. The dashboard layout is redesigned to give a wider appearance. The key highlights are the new 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging and the all-new 10.25-inch instrument cluster. Also, the 2021 Jeep Compass comes equipped with Jeep’s signature UConnect 5 user-interface to give better hardware and software on the car. It will come with over-the-air updates while running on the Android Operating system.
The American auto giant has added 360-degree Camera System, Hill Hold and Cruise Control among many other features. The new 2021 Jeep Compass comes with connected car features including a voice assistant and also, a dedicated smartphone application. The customers can track the location of the vehicle while it gives theft alerts and more.
Safety equipment list on-board the SUV include 6 airbags, ESP, Electronic Roll Mitigation, Hill Hold and Hill Descent Control among others. Talking about the safety parameter, the new 2021 Jeep Compass facelift scored five stars at the Australian NCAP crash test.
2021 Jeep Compass continues to be powered by 1.4-litre Multiair petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engines present in the outgoing model. The petrol engine will churn out 163 bhp of maximum power output and 250Nm of peak torque while the diesel unit will deliver 170 bhp of power output and 350Nm of torque. The petrol engine comes with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT gearboxes while the diesel powertrain is offered with a 6-speed manual or 9-speed automatic gearboxes. The AWD option continues to be available on the new model.
