Ford EcoSport Active gets a rugged look in comparison to the standard model on sale

American automobile maker - Ford has finally unveiled the EcoSport Active for the European market. The New EcoSport Active  gets a rugged and aggressive look. Basically, it is an off-road inspired version of the standard subcompact SUV currently on sale abroad as well as in India.

2021 Ford EcoSport Active is based on the higher trim of the international-spec subcompact SUV. It comes with a host of cosmetic and feature upgrades. This particular trim of the SUV offers chunky black plastic on wheel arches and side skirts, 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and ‘Active’ badging on the side profile of the vehicle. The new model further provides a host of blacked-out elements such as ORVMs, front grille, and the roof. As part of the enhancement, its suspension setup has also been slightly lifted in order to provide better off-roading capability. Thus another aspect where the improvement has been made is in the domain of ground clearance which has been increased over the standard model. Unlike the Ford EcoSport sold here in India, the new model does not get a tailgate-mounted spare wheel.

Talking about the interiors, what differentiates the New EcoSport Active from the standard model is that it gets leather seats with ‘Active’ badging on the backrest. Furthermore, the new model also gets an ‘Active X’ accessory pack that includes a Bang & Olufsen sound system, keyless entry, and an Advanced Driver Assistance System. Ford EcoSport Active carries forward the rest of the features, equipment, and tech from the standard model. These include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Ford's SYNC3 technology compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, auto climate control, six airbags, rear parking camera & sensors among many others.

In Europe, the EcoSport Active comes with a choice of two engine options - a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre diesel unit. Both these engines are linked to a 6-speed manual transmission. A similar rugged version of this subcompact SUV is sold in the South American market under the name of Ford EcoSport Storm. It is powered by a 2.0-litre engine that runs either on petrol or ethanol. Furthermore, it also gets a four-wheel-drive system on-board.
