Honda City India

Honda Cars India has announced the launch of the 2020 new-gen City sedan on July 15 in the country. Needless to say, it will be introduced via the digital route. The company had commenced the pre-bookings for the new sedan on June 25 through its online sales platform "Honda from Home", alongside the authorized dealership network across India. The fifth-gen 2020 Honda City will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid and Volkswagen Vento while available in both petrol and diesel fuel trims.

The 2020 Honda City will be the longest and widest model in its segment while coming with segment-first features such as Full LED headlamps, Z-Shaped wrap-around LED Tail lamp, 17.7 cm HD full color TFT meter with G-meter, LaneWatch camera, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with Agile Handling Assist (AHA) and and many more. In addition, it will get several other premium bells and whistles in the form of a 20.3 cm touchscreen infotainment system with seamless Smartphone connectivity with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Weblink. There will be a one-touch Electric Sunroof on offer too on the higher variants. Being termed as India's first connected car, all-new Honda City will debut Alexa remote capability and next-generation Honda Connect with Telematics Control Unit (TCU).

Underpinning a newly designed lightweight architecture, the 2020 new-gen Honda City has received the highest 5-star safety rating from ASEAN NCAP. The Japanese automaker has used 980 MPa grade steel for the first time in India with the City sedan while increasing the use of ultra high tensile steel in the construction. Mechanically, it will be available in both petrol and diesel fuel trims with BS6 compliant engines. The petrol variants will be powered by the 1.5L i-VTEC engine with top power of 119bhp and peak torque of 145Nm while available with a 6-speed manual and CVT gearboxes. The diesel variants will get power from the same 1.5L i-DTEC engine which will churn out 98bhp and 200Nm. It will only be linked to a 6-speed manual transmission with no automatic unit option.
