2020 Mahindra Thar Prices set to increase from December 1, 2020, as per media reports

In a new development, New-Gen Mahindra Thar prices are all set to increase from tomorrow December 1, 2020, if we go by recent media reports. However, at the time of the publishing of this story, nothing official has been confirmed regarding the hike on the popular off-roader by the automaker. 2020 Mahindra Thar was launched earlier this year on October 2 at a starting price of Rs 9.80 lakh (ex-showroom), India. Consumers who have booked the model before December 1 will pay the introductory prices while the hike will be applicable on fresh bookings. The SUV has received tremendous response with its bookings crossing the 20,000 mark in just a month of its launch. The first unit was delivered on November 1st with over 500 more dispatched to the customers during the Diwali period. With rising demand, the manufacturer is ramping up production at its Nashik facility with plans to increase it to 3,000 units by January 2021.

The SUV is retailed in two variants namely AX and LX. Further, the AX is sold in 3 trims - AX STD, AX and AX OPT.  The top-end LX is available in only one variant as of now. Currently, the LX trim price starts from Rs 12.49 lakhs (ex-showroom), India. The latest iteration of Thar is certainly an upgrade over the older model in terms of design, features and engine options making it an attractive prospect for the Indian buyer. Its striking design highlights are a square-shaped grille, round headlamps housing LED DRL's, dual-tone finished front bumper among others. The AX variant sports all-terrain R16 tyres, on the other hand, LX trims rides on an 18-inch alloy wheels.

The New-Gen Mahindra Thar comes equipped two engine options, a 2.0-litre mStallion petrol and a 2.2-litre 4-cylinder CRDi diesel unit. The former delivers 150 bhp of power output and 320 Nm of peak torque while the latter belts out 130 bhp power with 320 Nm torque. Transmission duties in petrol and diesel models are taken care by 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes. For the AX variant, only the manual option is offered while the LX variant buyers have the choice of a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
