Jeep Compass facelift will be launched in the Indian market in the first half of 2021.

The 2020 Jeep Compass facelift will have its world premiere digitally on June 4 while it will be launched in the Indian market in the first half of 2021. The model has been spotted multiple times during its test runs with camouflage but the exterior and interior changes were pretty visible in spy images. Jeep Compass rivals the likes of Skoda Karoq, Volkswagen T-Roc, Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Kia Seltos and MG Hector in India. Meanwhile, the company is also working on an all-new 7-seater SUV based on the Compass platform.

The mid-cycle facelift of Jeep Compass will boast of minor cosmetic updates such as redesigned front and rear bumpers, tweaked headlamps with new front grille with Jeep's signature seven-slat design. The front grille is also expected to flaunt honeycomb-esque inserts. The cabin will boast of soft touch materials all around, albeit with better quality than now. The main highlight of the cabin will be the all-new UConnect 5 touchscreen infotainment system, which debuted at the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. It is available in different screen options but Jeep is likely to offer the biggest 12.3-inch unit with the Compass facelift which will make it the largest in the segment. The UConnect 5 will have Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Amazon Alexa support as standard.

Mechanically, the 2020 Jeep Compass facelift is not expected to come with any updates in India while retaining the same set of BS6 compliant petrol and diesel engines. The 1.4L turbocharged petrol engine with 163bhp power and 2.0L diesel engine with power output of 173bhp will carry over from the current model. Both the engines will be linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. The petrol variants can also be availed with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic unit as optional while the diesel variants will be offered with a 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission as optional. There is no word on the all-wheel-drive system while the facelifted version is expected to be priced a bit higher than the ongoing model.
