Skoda revealed their new premium hatchback, Scala in Tel Aviv, Israel. The company aims at a strong foothold in the compact car segment with the Scala. The Scala is a fairly big hatchback packed with a lot of comfort and safety features.
The car comes with a host of engine options in petrol, diesel and CNG guises. The power outputs from these engines range from 90 PS to 150 PS. While the petrol and diesel powered options will be available at launch, the CNG variant will be launched later in 2019. Transmission duties will be taken care of by a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG depending on the variant. Two driving modes would be available to switch from - Normal and Sport. An optional Sport Chassis Control would also be available as an option.
On the design front, the Skoda Scala follows the company's new design language. Elements like 18-inch alloy wheels, 'Skoda' inscription on the tailgate instead of Skoda logo, LED headlights and tail lights as standard and an option of dynamic rear indicators are some of the standout design features. There are several features like the electric tailgate, Tip-To-Close function and a retractable tow bar included in the Skoda Scala package.
The Skoda Scala is packed to the brim with comfort and safety features. Lane Assist and Front Assist with City Emergency Brake come as standard with optional Side Assist function, Adaptive Cruise Control and Park Assist as an option. The car also comes with an option of up to 9 airbags. The Virtual Cockpit as seen on other VW Group cars come as an option with a 10.25-inch display. The car provides seamless connectivity with an inbuilt eSIM and LTE connection, it can also be unlocked with your phone.
There's no confirmation on whether the Skoda Scala would arrive at our shores but even if it does, it wouldn't be seen on the Indian roads before 2020.
