The German sports car maker, Porsche introduced the first generation of Cayenne more than fifteen years ago. The Cayenne has been one of the best-selling cars of Porsche in our country. The company has launched the third generation of Cayenne in India. The Turbo variant of the SUV was launched earlier and now the automaker has added 2 more trims to the Cayenne line-up – Standard and E-Hybrid.

The SUV now comes with the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PLDS). The all-LED headlamps, air intakes and the grille have all grown in size. On the rear, the connected tail-lights give the SUV a wider appeal. The interior is very much inspired by the new Panamera’s interior and it houses a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the centre. The centre console buttons get glass-like touch surfaces. The SUV gets a minimum cargo space of 770-litres.

The third generation Porsche Cayenne will be offered in a range of engine options including V6 and V8. The standard version will come with a 3.0-litre single-turbo V6 engine which produces 335 BHP and 450 Nm of peak torque, while the Cayenne S will draw power from a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 that produces an output of 440 BHP and 550 Nm of peak torque. The Cayenne Turbo packs in 550 BHP and 770 Nm of peak torque from a 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 engine. The engine will be mated to an 8-speed Tiptronic S transmission.

The E-Hybrid variant produces 462 BHP and 700 Nm of torque. This variant also gets a boost strategy feature which has been adopted from Porsche 918 Spyder supercar. It can drive up to 44 km in a single charge and has a top speed of 135 km/hr in all-electric mode. The company had stated earlier that they won’t be launching any diesel variant in any of their cars.

The new Porsche Cayenne standard trim is priced at Rs. 1.19 crores, e-Hybrid variant is priced at Rs 1.58 crores and the Cayenne Turbo is priced at Rs 1.92 crores. Bookings started earlier for the new Cayenne range in India and the deliveries will begin by the end of this year or in the first month of 2019.
