The Hyundai Santro was first launched two decades ago and it was a huge success. Korean manufacturer Hyundai has now launched the new generation Santro. The new Santro is built on a new K1 platform. The usage of high strength steel (HSS) has helped add better static and dynamic stiffness of the structure.

The new Hyundai Santro gets a completely new grille with chrome surroundings. The manufacturer will sell this car in five variants – D-lite, Era, Magna, Asta and Sportz. The hatchback will be available seven paint options – Diana Green, Typhoon Silver, Star Dust, Fiery Red, Polar White, Imperial Beige and Marina Blue. The car sits on 14-inch steel rims which are wrapped around by 165/70 R14 tyres. There is no option of alloy wheels even in the top Asta trim.

On the inside, it gets a 7-inch touchscreen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Mirror Link connectivity. There are two interior colour options – Premium Beige with Champagne Gold and Sporty Black with Diana Green inserts. The car also comes with rear AC vents, rear defogger, a rear parking camera and sensors. The hatchback offers keyless entry, all four power windows, electrically adjustable ORVMs and day/night IRVM. The boot space of the car is 235-litres.

Safety-wise, the car gets ABS, EBD and driver’s airbag as standard. This entry-level car comes with impact sensing auto door unlock, speed sensing auto door lock and seatbelt pre-tensioners with load limiter. Hyundai is providing a 3 year/1 lakhs km warranty along with 3 years of roadside assistance for the new Santro.

Powering the car is a 1.1-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 68.05 BHP and 99 Nm of torque. The petrol variant comes with an option of a manual gearbox or an AMT. However, the output from the CNG engine is less at 58.2 BHP and 84 Nm of twisting force. The CNG variant will be offered only with a manual gearbox option.

The base Hyundai Santro D-Lite is priced at Rs. 3.90 lakhs while the top trim Asta will cost you Rs. 5.46 lakhs. The CNG variant is available from Rs. 5.24 lakhs whereas the petrol AMT is priced from Rs. 5.19 lakhs (all prices ex-showroom).
