French carmaker, Renault introduced the Megane in 1995 and over a period of time it has been evolved beautifully and currently it’s in its fourth generation. But in 2004, the performance division of the company called Renault Sports enhanced the standard Megane II into a hot hatchback and since then the Megane RS is one of the benchmarks of performance hatchbacks all around the world.
2019 Megane RS Trophy is designed to tackle the twisties and to set records at the racetracks. The car looks very belligerent from the front. The unique foglamps, DRLs surrounding the headlights and a huge Renault logo perfectly synchronises with the character of the car. The chassis of the car is same as the standard Megane but it gets additional performance hardware.
The Megane RS Trophy comes equipped with stiffer suspension, limited-slip differential, dual-material disc brakes and 19-inch alloy wheels. These alloy wheels are wrapped with Bridgestone Potenza S001 high performance tyres. To further extract more juice out of the engine, the engineers have upgraded the turbocharger and exhaust system of the vehicle.
Powering the Renault Megane RS Trophy is a 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 296 BHP and 400 Nm of torque, it comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. However, the torque output of the engine increases to 420 Nm if one opts for six-speed EDC transmission variant. The car is capable of doing 0-100 km/hr sprint in just 5.7 seconds and it tops out at the speed of 260 km/hr.
