  • Toyota Fortuner TRD will come with cosmetic updates and new features

Toyota India is all set to launch the Fortuner TRD limited edition in the country. The company's official Twitter handle teased the upcoming limited edition Toyota Fortuner TRD with a small video. Even Mr. Naveen Soni, Senior Vice President, Sales and Service, Toyota Kirloskar Motor had stated a few days back that a limited edition version of Toyota Fortuner is coming very soon. Recently, a mule was spotted testing on the Indian roads of the SUV which was believed to be the facelifted model as it has been already unveiled in Thailand.

Toyota has plans to launch the 2021 Fortuner facelift by the end of this year in the Indian market. Hence, the company is leaving no stone unturned to capitalize on the current model before the arrival of the new SUV by introducing a limited edition. The limited edition SUV is expected to come with a few visual updates while getting new features. It will have a TRD grille and tweaked bumper upfront while a couple of new features could be added in the form of a 360-degree camera and auto-folding outside rearview mirrors. Toyota Fortuner TRD price is expected to be at least Rs 1 Lakh higher than the top-end variant of standard Fortuner SUV which implies that it could get a starting price of Rs 33-34 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).

Mechanically, the Fortuner TRD will be identical to the stock model as it will continue to be powered by the same set of BS6 compliant engines. Just so you know, the Toyota Fortuner BS6 was rolled out earlier this year. The diesel variant will get power from the 2.8L turbocharged engine which develops 174bhp and 420Nm while paired with a manual transmission. When paired with an automatic unit, the torque performance goes upto 450Nm while the power output remains the same. Coming to the petrol variant, it will be powered by a naturally aspirated 2.7L engine which churns out 163bhp and 245Nm. The diesel variant might also get the all-wheel-drive system. Stay tuned for more updates on the same!
