News Highlights

  • The alloy wheels now get the 5-spoke diamond-cut design
  • Earlier, Tata had silently removed the physical buttons for infotainment system
  • There are no mechanical updates with the Nexon SUV

Tata Motors has silently updated the Nexon yet again in the country. This time, the company has replaced the existing V-shape design of the alloy wheels by a more conventional five-spoke diamond-cut design. The units of Tata Nexon with the new alloy wheel design have even started reaching the dealerships. The V-shaped design of the alloy wheels appeared unique while the diamond-cut design is quite common and has already been seen on multiple cars and SUVs. The Nexon doesn't come with any mechanical update at all.

Earlier, Tata Motors had also given a silent update to the Nexon in the cabin. The company had quietly removed the physical buttons and knobs on the centre console which were meant for using the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It had integrated these physical buttons in the infotainment unit itself. There were a total of six buttons placed below the AC vents on the dashboard. These buttons were for home, favourites, previous, next, smartphone and back functions while the knob was for volume control and radio tuner. Unarguably, the removal of these buttons made the dashboard less congested and lended it a cleaner look but at the same time, it took away the convenience of physical buttons.

Mechanically, Tata Nexon continues to carry the same petrol and diesel engines. The petrol variants draw power from a 1.2L turbocharged unit which generates maximum power output of 118bhp and peak torque performance of 170 Nm. On the other hand, the diesel variants are powered by a 1.5L 4-cylinder motor which dishes out top power of 108bhp and highest torque of 260Nm. Both the engines can be availed with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed AMT gearbox. Tata Nexon is placed in the sub 4-metre SUV segment which already has several heavyweights in the form of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport, Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger and Toyota Urban Cruiser. It is priced in a range of Rs 7.19-12.95 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi).
