Skoda Auto India will be launching the automatic version of the BS6 Rapid tomorrow in the Indian market. The launch will take place virtually. The company had earlier released a teaser video on its social media handles confirming its launch. Bookings for Skoda Rapid Automatic have already begun last month at a refundable deposit of Rs 25,000. However, deliveries are likely to start from September 18th 2020. The company launched the BS6 Rapid TSI with a manual gearbox earlier this year. It was priced in the range of Rs 7.49 lakhs - Rs 11.79 lakhs (ex-showroom). Now the Czech automaker is likely to introduce the automatic variant in the price bracket of Rs 8.99 lakhs - Rs 12.79 lakhs (ex-showroom). The automatic variant is expected to be Rs 1 lakh - Rs 1.5 lakh pricier than the manual variant.

Under the hood, the Rapid AT will come equipped with a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo petrol engine. This same engine is present in the manual variant of 2020 Rapid TSI. The engine will continue to belt out a maximum power output of 110 bhp @ 5000 - 5500 rpm and a peak torque of 175 Nm @ 1750 - 4000 rpm. The mill will be mated to a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. As for the mileage, the Rapid Automatic will offer an ARAI certified figure of 16.24 kmpl. While the manual variant offers 18.97 kmpl mileage (ARAI Certified). 


BS6 Skoda Rapid AT will be offered in four trims namely Rider Plus, ONYX, Style, and Monte Carlo. Talking about the Rapid manual, it was initially offered in a total of five trims namely Rider, ONYX, Ambition, Style, and Monte Carlo. However, due to heavy demand, the company discontinued its entry level trim Rider. Instead of that, it introduced a new trim dubbed as Rider Plus. No changes have been made to the interior and the exterior. In terms of dimensions, it still stand at 4413 mm long, 1699 mm wide, and 1466 mm tall. Furthermore, it continues to have a wheelbase measuring 2552 mm and a ground clearance of 168 mm. Once launched, it will rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Toyota Yaris, Hyundai Verna, and the New Honda City in its segment.
