The bookings for the hatch started on October 28, 2020 at the company's 'Click to Buy' digital platform and at Hyundai dealerships at a token payment of Rs 21,000. It is being offered with multiple engine and transmission options for the buyers.

The new-gen i20 is based on Hyundai's ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ global design philosophy while being offered in six monotone and two dual-tone color schemes. The single tone color options are Polar White, Typhoon Silver, Titan Grey, Fiery Red, Starry Night and Metallic Copper. On the other hand, the couple of dual-tone color options are Polar White with Black Roof and Fiery Red with Black Roof. Some of the key design elements include Hyundai's signature cascading front grille with gloss black finish, LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs, projector foglamps, new 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels and Z-shaped LED tail lamp cluster. The cabin gets a digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, ambient lighting and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto & BlueLink connectivity.

Mechanically, the new-gen i20 comes with a total of three engine options: 1.2L naturally aspirated Kappa petrol engine, a 1.0L turbocharged GDi petrol engine and a 1.5L U2 CRDi diesel engine. The 1.2L petrol engine develops top power of 82bhp and 87bhp with 5-speed manual and iVT gearboxes, respectively while the torque performance remains unchanged at 114Nm. Coming to the 1.5L diesel engine, it generates maximum power output of 98bhp and peak torque of 240Nm while paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and delivering a best-in-segment mileage of 25.30kmpl. Last but not the least, the 1.0L T-GDi petrol engine churns out 118bhp and 172Nm while available with 7-speed DCT and 6-speed iMT gearbox options.
