  • Skoda has sold over 1 Lakh units of Octavia in India

Skoda India has commenced the series production of fourth-gen Octavia sedan at the Shendra manufacturing unit in Aurangabad. It will be launched by the end of April 2021 in the Indian market. The Czech Republican based automaker marked its entry in India in 2001 with the Octavia. The legacy of Skoda Octavia goes more than six years back in 1959 when the very first unit of the sedan rolled off the production facility in Mladá Boleslav. The brand has sold more than 1 Lakh units of the Octavia in the Indian market till date.

The fourth-gen 2021 Skoda Octavia is based on a tweaked version of the MQB architecture while it has grown in size as compared to the preceding model. The India-spec sedan is largely identical to the global model. The styling cues have been derived from the Superb with the previous-gen version's quad-headlamp setup going for a toss in favour of a more traditional setup. The cabin will come in a dual-tone black and beige upholstery while features will include 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, three-zone climate control, and wireless charging. Under the bonnet, it will be only available with a 2.0L turbocharged TSI petrol engine with 190bhp power output alongside a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. No diesel engine will be on offer, at least initially.

Mr. Zac Hollis, Brand Director – ŠKODA AUTO India, said "The ŠKODA OCTAVIA has always offered a compelling combination of the brand's emotive design, exquisite interiors, class leading safety, and intelligent connectivity features, and the all new iteration pushes the yardstick further. A twenty year run, and about a hundred thousand satisfied customers, is a testament to its strong equity among discerning car buyers in a dynamically evolving automotive market like India. With the commencement of production, we also commit to a stronger product portfolio as we look to grow our presence in India. In line with our laser sharp focus on customer centricity, we are also rapidly growing our network presence and have introduced several initiatives to ensure an unmatched ownership experience."
