Hyundai India has donated a sum of Rs 10 Crores to the state government of Tamil Nadu in the fight towards COVID-19 pandemic. Hyundai Motor India Foundation, the philanthropic and CSR wing of the South-Korean automaker, has donated Rs 5 Crores to the “Chief Minister Public Relief Fund” under Hyundai Cares 3.0 COVID-19 relief initiative. It was handed over to Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru M K Stalin. Last year too, the brand had extended similar support of Rs 10 crores to the state towards multiple pandemic relief activities.

Besides handing over a cheque of Rs 5 Crores to Tamil Nadu CM, Hyundai has also made a donation of Rs 5 Crores for the purchase of Medicare Equipment comprising of High Flow Nasal Oxygen machines, Bipap machines and Oxygen concentrators. Additionally, it will set up a couple of oxygen plants at government hospitals in Tondiarpet and Tambaram. On the anvil are some other medical consumables for front line workers of various hospitals. The company has rolled out the nationwide Hyundai Cares 3.0 initiative which is worth Rs 25 Crores. It includes donations to both the Tamil Nadu state government as well as the Union Government. Several other leading automakers have come forward and played their part in fighting this pandemic.

Commenting on the contribution, Mr. SS Kim, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. said, “Hyundai has always stood by the government of Tamil Nadu in its most trying times. Today, when the state is fighting strong against the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic, we have once again put together a package to help the state overcome the crisis. This contribution is an expression of our solidarity with the people of the state that has been the Home of Hyundai in India for over two decades. In line with our global vision – ‘Progress for Humanity’, Hyundai is committed to undertake every effort to help India overcome this unprecedented calamity.” The company has two manufacturing facilities in Irungattukottai and Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu.
