Electric Scooter Launched

Ampere Electric, the fully-owned subsidiary of Greaves Cotton, has launched the Magnus Pro electric scooter at a sticker price of Rs 73,990 (Ex. Showroom, India) in the country. Being based on the modified platform of Zeal Scooter, Ampere Magnus Pro will go on sale in Bengaluru initially while gradually it will be sold all across India in a phased-wise manner. Currently, the company has nearly 200 dealerships in 190 cities across the nation while the bookings can be made digitally too with several finance options available.

Ampere Magnus Pro electric scooter is offered in four color schemes: Metallic Red, Golden Yellow, Bluish Pearl White, and Graphite Black. Weighing merely 82 kgs, it gets a boot space of 10 litres where an ISI brand approved helmet can be kept. The electric scooter also gets a smartphone charging point in the front pocket. Other standard features include an-all digital instrument cluster with blue backlight, all-LED headlight and 10-inch steel wheels. The Magnus Pro comes with ground clearance of 150mm while it can carry a load of upto 150 kgs. With its launch, Ampere Electric has now a total of six scooters in its arsenal. The scooter gets a three-year warranty as standard while it can be extended by upto 2 years by paying extra premium.

Ampere Magnus Pro will draw power from a 1200W electric motor and a 60V lithium ion battery. It comes with two riding modes: Eco and Cruise. The scooter has a range of 100kms in the Eco model while it gets reduced to 80kms in the Cruise mode. The total charging time stands at 5 hours while the company has not provided any fast charger. The company has also introduced a 'limp' mode as well which limits the top speed automatically when the scooter is low on charge. The running cost quoted by Ampere Electric for Magnus Pro is 15 paise per kilometer. As far as braking is concerned, it gets dual drums at front as well as rear with CBS and regenerative braking as standard. Suspension duties are helmed by telescopic shock absorbers at front and coil springs at rear.
