The German manufacturer, BMW launched the S1000RR in 2010 and immediately it was the benchmark for all the litre class supersport bikes. The next-gen of the bike has been revealed at the EICMA show. The bike gets mechanical as well as cosmetic upgrades.

The major visual change on the bike is that the asymmetrical headlights have been replaced by twin projector headlamp units. The iconic shark gill ducts on fairings have been replaced with a larger exposed area for better heat dissipation. The motorcycle retains the BMW’s signature blue, red and white livery. The bike’s fuel tank capacity is of 16.5-litres and with all fuelled up it weighs 197 kg.

The motorcycle packs a lot of technologies like ABS, four riding modes (rain, road, dynamic and race), dynamic traction control (DTC), hill start control (HSC), bi-directional quick-shifter and shift assist pro as standard. There is a full-colour TFT display as an instrument cluster. The bike’s seat height is at 824 mm.

The bike is powered by an all-new 999cc liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder engine that churns out 207 BHP and 113 Nm of torque. It can reach a speed of 100 km/hr mark under 3 seconds and the top speed of the bike is limited to 299 km/hr. The engine is equipped with BMW ShiftCam which is basically a variable valve timing technology. This bike is expected to reach our shores in the first quarter of 2019.
